MADRID, April 6.—Stressing that a grave threat continued in the Insurgent drive in Catalonia and towards the Mediterranean, Socialist Premier Negrin has dropped his War Minister "Strong Man" Indalecio Prieto and personally assumed the duties of the post. With this change, Premier Negrin has made almost a complete reshuffle of his Cabinet. He has dropped one of two Communist ministers, Jesus Hernandez, Department of Public Instruction. This will give the Cabinet a more moderate complexion.
Reports received here state a furious battle for possession of Tortosa has increased the intensity of the situation as heavily reinforced armies on both sides pounded each other the third consecutive day at the Ebro River delta town.
