President John F. Kennedy has signed the Bill which authorizes the four million dollars for power plants in St. Thomas and St. Croix, Governor Ralph Paiewonsky has announced.
Two five thousand kilowatt steam generators-one for each island-are thus made possible. Previously, the Governor had announced that he will seek this appropriation when Congress reconvenes in January. Authorization is prerequisite before the appropriation can be made.
By his signature, the President made the authorization, Public Law 87-392 as an Amendment to the Virgin Islands Corporation Act. The President signed the Bill October fourth.
