Cooley Rally Will Be at New High School

To Arouse Enthusiasm Toward Getting Out Big Democratic Vote

WILL BE COUNTYWIDE

Chairman B. P. Wyche Will Preside at Meeting Where Well Known Orators And Speakers Will Be Heard

Congressman Harold D. Cooley, of Nashville, representative from the fourth North Carolina district, and Judge R. Hunt Parker, of the third judicial district, in both of which Vance county is located, will be the headline speakers at a great Democratic rally to be held in the auditorium of the Henderson high school next Friday evening at 7:30 o'clock, it was announced today by Chairman B. P. Wyche, of the Vance County Democratic Executive Committee.

Both speakers are widely known in this city and county, and the announcement that they would be on the program has been met with much favorable comment and general approval. Mr. Cooley is a candidate for re-election on November 3, although Judge Parker is not up this time.

Mr. Wyche does not expect any other speakers to be on the program except those who will present the two visiting officials.

Present plans call for J. M. Peace Democratic candidate for the State House of Representatives, to introduce Mr. Cooley. Judge Parker will be introduced by some local Democrat not yet definitely selected.

Leaders of the party look to this rally, the only one of the campaign in this county, to bring out a tremendous vote on November 3. Because of the tremendous Democratic margin in Vance, no intensive campaign has been waged here this fall. The normal vote here in a general election is around 5,000 Democratic and 500 Republican, or approximately ten to one. It is anticipated that this year's turn-out of voters will achieve a result fully in keeping with this record of the past.

The rally is, of course, countywide in nature and is expected to bring Democrats from all parts of the county to hear two speakers who are very popular among Democratic voters of the county.
