Full Text

Congress--Saturday.

The Senate was not in session.
In the House the pending motion was that of Mr. Wilson of Iowa, chairman of the Judiciary Committee, to lay the impeachment report on the table.
After some filibustering by Mr. Logan, Mr. Wilson assented to take a direct vote on the resolution which is in the following words—
Resolved, That Andrew Johnson, President of the United States, be impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors.
The vote stood, yeas 57, nays 108—there being 21 absentees. So the scheme which has been concocting for more than a year, and which has cost many thousands for witnesses and printing, has been ignominiously entombed, beyond resurrection.
