Extract of a Letter from London, May 29.
SINCE our last the Apprehensions of a War have greatly subsided. Though it is evident that France and Spain have been making warlike Preparations, which have occasioned various Conjectures; but as they appear to be peaceably disposed towards us, our Government has discontinued the Bounty for Seamen, notwithstanding a Fleet is ready, in Case of Need. The Stocks, however, are returned to their usual State. We have nothing new to mention in Regard to publick Credit, which we think seems rather on the mending Hand; but it is expected that the general unlimited Credit, which has prevailed here and in America, will be greatly curtailed.
