Blythe Sheriff Visits El Centro

Deputy Sheriff F. H. LeBarron of Blythe, is in this city today on business, and conferred with District Attorney Utley at the court house.

LeBarron will be recalled as the officer who arrested Lawrence Campbell and Charles Davis, the two boys who killed Leslie Nichols between Niland and Blythe, last January. Campbell was afterward hanged for the crime and Davis is at present serving a life term in San Quentin prison.

The Riverside officer stated that officials of that county have not been able to locate a body near Blythe which Eddie Hammil, an ex-service man, confessed to murdering. Hammil who is in San Francisco, stated the tragedy took place last November, when he fought with an unknown man who was camped with him on the desert.

LeBarron stated Riverside officers have searched the desert in the vicinity of Blythe for several days, without finding any trace of the body. Hammil himself was unable to state just where the tragedy occurred. Sheriff Ryan and several deputies were to continue the hunt today. LeBarron said.
