Gen. Martin reports that, on the 6th inst., the Iron-Clad Albemarle, Com. Cooke, with the enemy's boat "Schooner" raised at Plymouth, encountered, at 4 o'clock, P. M., ten miles from the mouth of Roanoke river, one of the enemy's gunboats, three of them very large, from the blockading squadron. The light lasted till night. He sank the largest gunboat of the enemy, and disabled at least two others, without serious injury to the Albemarle, but lost his tender. The result was encouraging.
