Full Text

Agents' Squabbles.—Mrs. Chandler occupies a house in Waverly place, and pays $100 monthly in advance. Mrs. Ferguson, the owner of the property, dissatisfied with her agent, wrote to Mrs. Chandler that she had appointed another, and to stop payment to the old agent. The old agent came to collect, and Mrs. Chandler showed the letter from Mrs. Ferguson, ordering payments to him to be stopped. He looked at the letter, said that it did not amount to anything, took the $100, and gave his receipt. The newly-appointed agent came along, and demanded the rent. She declined to give it, having already paid the rent. A warrant to dispossess was issued, and the case was tried before Judge Browne, in the City Court. He decided against her, but said there was no doubt the $100 would be returned to her.
