WILLIAMSBURG, August 28.

The Gentlemen of Hanover County, being desirous of Following the Example of Williamsburg, Norfolk, Suffolk, and other Places, in expressing their Joy and Loyalty, on Occasion of the Defeat of the Rebels in Scotland, voluntarily raised a Sum of Money, for making a Publick Entertainment; which was appointed to be at Newcastle, Yesterday was Se'nnight: Accordingly, that Day, a great Number of Gentlemen and Ladies, Inhabitants of that and the adjacent Counties, met at the House of Mr. Waters; where a handsome Dinner was provided; a long Arbour was set up, in which 50 Gentlemen and Ladies dined, and several other Tables were full in the House. After Dinner, the Healths of the King, Prince and Princess of Wales, the Duke of Cumberland, and the rest of the Royal Family, Success to his Majesty's Arms, the Governor and Prosperity to Virginia, &c. were cheerfully drank in the best of Liquors. A large Quantity of Punch was given to the Populace; and at each Health there was a Volley of small Arms discharged, and Three cheerful Huzzas at each Volley. A large Bonfire was made in the Evening, and the Windows of the Loyalists in Town were illuminated. The Ladies were entertained with Dancing; and the Evening concluded with the utmost Demonstrations of Loyalty, and all was conducted with Decency and good Order. There never was seen such a Concourse of People at that Place, on any Occasion; and the hearty Zeal and unaffected Joy which appear'd in general, was sufficient to put the few (suppos'd to be) disaffected, quite out of Countenance.
