TACOMA, Wash., Aug. 7.—Pieces of the eagle boat La Blanca which blew up in the narrows near Point Evans last night were found scattered all over this section of Washington today.
Fire broke out aboard the small boat which was transporting 12 tons of dynamite from the DuPont factory near here to a Kennard factory. The flames spread and Nelson Christensen and his son, Nils, abandoned the craft, swam ashore and escaped.
With a roar that shook the earth for miles, causing many persons to think there had been an earthquake, the explosives hurled bits of the boat in all directions. The cabin of the boat was found on top of a bluff, high above the water line.
Telephone service was disrupted and windows seven miles away were shattered. The explosion was heard at Seattle, 40 miles away.
For a time it was feared that the explosion had swamped small boats in the narrows nearby but Christensen said he shouted a warning to all boatmen while fighting the fire and that all fled to safety before he abandoned ship.
