Needs Investigating—The Wilton News, in an article published last week states that a young girl, thirteen or fourteen years old, was coerced into marriage to a man whom she did not know, by her father. The records of the county court here show that Alvirina Howerluk of Wilton and Mike Proke were granted a marriage license. The ceremony was performed in this city. Judge Fort states that Proke made affidavit that the girl in question was eighteen years old. If the facts as stated by the News are true, some one is liable on a charge of perjury. The News article would indicate that the girl did not want to get married but did so through fear of her father. The parties to the case are Russians and it would seem that the authorities should investigate the matter.
