a tale has been handed down by tradition from father to son, that Blackbeard, the noted pirate, deposited his treasure in the vicinity of the borough of Frankfort ; a few of the credulous inhabitants thereof, who were anxious to better their fortunes speedily, rather than by the slow toil of many years, have been digging in quest of imaginary treasure in vain, whilst this worthy laborer, by the sweat of his brow, trusting to honest industry, has been amply repaid for his toil by Providence.
