Capt. Sinclair in the Ship Three Brothers, who arrived here the Beginning of last Week, left London the latter end of September, came down Channel with several Vessels for this Place, viz: Kirkwood in a Snow, Cathcart in a Ship, Bethune, Pinkham, and Folger, in Brigs. While Capt. Sinclair was loading at Newcastle the Beginning of October, there was a very violent Storm of Wind which lasted about five Hours, great Damage was done thereby on Shore, by the blowing down several Houses and the Roofs of many others: And in the Harbour considerable Damage done to the Shipping; his Vessel was near Foundering at Anchor, two Keels sunk alongside of him, and several of the Men therein drowned: It is thought a great deal of Damage was done by the Storm in the Channel of England, as the Wind was at about South. Capt. Sinclair had but six Weeks Passage from Newcastle, and 30 Days from the Orkneys, but brought no publick Prints. Capt. Reed from Newcastle, on his Passage hither, met with several Pieces of Wrecks at Sea, after the above Storm.
