"His late Highness the Dauphin, some time before his death, had made presents of curious snuff boxes to the Duke of Praslin, the Abbe de Marbeuf, and other persons; there were found also a great quantity labelled with the names of those for whom they were designed as new-year's gifts, which have been distributed according to the directions. This Prince, having asked the King's permission to make his will, had written one with his own hand, sealed it up in a packet, and delivered it to the Count de St. Florentine, to be opened after his death by his Majesty. It is assured that by this will he desired that his Majesty would give a pension of 50,000 crowns to Madame Christina of Saxony, his sister in law, and a present of the value of 80,000 livres to each of his 12 favourite attendants. He bequeathed also 150,000 livres to the hospital of Glatigny near Versailles; and recommended that his debts should be paid, amounting to about 80,000 livres."
