Vance county AAA officials tonight revised upward their estimates the amount of farm benefit payments which will be received this year by Vance farmers for compliance with the 1942 agricultural conservation program and as parity on cotton and tobacco crops.
With payment yet to be made on 99 applications of the total of 1,671 farms under the AAA program, the total payments received reached $118,463, less than $4,000 short of the previous estimates of $122,000 to be received by Vance farmers on last year's Government payments. The total so far received went to 3,456 farms—an payment of 157 applications.
The county AAA office yesterday received notice of mailings of 116 checks, totaling $5,833.13, in payment of 36 applications.
Declining to make any new estimate of the total to be expected in government payments to Vance farmers, AAA officials said that it now seems certain that the amount will exceed considerably the earlier figures computed on the basis of payment of a majority of the total number of applications approved.
