Full Text

We hear from good authority, that when Cornwallis found General Washington at the head of the allied army, was approaching him to lay siege to York Town, he sent out a strong party to collect all the cattle that time would allow; about 500 head had been collected, and driven near his Lordship's works by this party, when it was attacked by a body of French light horse, under the command of the Duke de Lauzun, with such alertness and impetuosity, that the British party was soon routed with considerable slaughter, driven back within their works, and all the cattle recovered.
