Philadelphia, July 17.

Yesterday afternoon, about three o'clock, a fire broke out in a stable in Kunkle street, below Callowhill st. back of the Pennsylvania Farmer, and before 6 o'clock destroyed more buildings and merchandise than any one which has happened since the memorable fire in Dock street, about 14 years ago. The fire commenced in Kunkle street, and extended up Kunkle to Callowhill, down Callowhill to Third street, and down Third street to a house belonging to and occupied by Mr. Isaac Davis, where its progress was arrested. The number of houses destroyed and materially damaged, we understand to be between 20 and 30.
