COTTON CONTRACTS ARE COMING IN YET
Campaign Soon To Be Closed Here, However, as Time Limit Expires

Contracts by cotton growers in this county, by which they agree to regulate their production in 1934, are still being signed and turned in at the office of J. W. Sanders, county farm agent, in the Law Building. Mr. Sanders is director of the sign-up campaign here.

Most of the large farms in the county have been pledged for the acreage reduction campaign, providing for the curtailment of at least 40 percent under the five-year average from 1928 to 1932, inclusive. There still are a number of small growers who have not signed. Around 500 contracts have been turned in and most of them have been passed on and forwarded to State offices in Raleigh.

The campaign is to come to a close soon, and leaders in the movement here are anxious that all those who have not so far signed shall do so at the earliest possible time.

The corps of workers and assistants at the office are being kept busy all day in handling the immense amount of detail necessary in working up the contracts and forwarding them to State and national officials.
