Full Text

In too many of the villages along the Pawtuxet Valley we notice a lack of cleanliness and good order that is simply without reason. Boxes and barrels are allowed to accumulate and grow musty in front of markets, ashes, and even swill is dumped in the streets, sinkdrains go uncovered, vaults are left open and exhale their sickening and deadly odors, and a hundred and one other nuisances are suffered to exist in civilized communities. There is no need for us to say that these things should be prevented. Every sensible person knows they should be, and in order to bring about a reform should take a strong personal interest in the matter.
