Ringing the New Year In.-The citizens of Weaverville were astonished and aroused at mid-night of December thirty-first, 1869, and January first, 1870, by an unusual and startling alarum. A number of individuals dressed fantastically and disguised so that their mothers could not identify them, paraded the streets, provided with bells and gongs which they beat upon and rang, making a noise defying slumber and exciting the curiosity of those whom it did not alarm. The result of our inquiries is that it was the "Calithumpions" abroad ringing the new year in.
