A Spanish gentleman who sailed from Vera Cruz the 18th of July bound to Cadiz, was taken by the British brig Ferret, capt. Walsh. A few days after they fell in with the Aurora, bound from this port to the Havannah, on board of which vessel they put this Spaniard and other prisoners, and ordered her back to the United States. This gentleman says, that when he sailed from Vera Cruz, they had just heard of Bonaparte having inveigled the Spanish king to Bayonne—that the people of Mexico were determined to receive no officer sent by Bonaparte or any under him—that they would have Ferdinand for their king, or they would be independent
He thinks when they hear from the junta at Seville, they will serve their viceroy (who is in the interest of Bonaparte) as they did in Cadiz their governor...Register.
