Full Text

They write from the Hague that they are very attentive to the Measures which Spain shall think fit to take in the present Conjuncture: Some, who pretend to be well informed, assert that Spain must necessarily enter into War next Year, and that Gibraltar must be in her Possession before a Peace be signed; but that she will not declare herself until she be in Condition to make Head against the English in all Parts. It is certain that Spain is augmenting her Forces by Sea and Land. The Marquis de Puente Fuenter, the Spanish Ambassador in Holland, had received Orders to send to Spain by Sea as many Deserters, or others, as may offer themselves; to allure them of high Bounty-Money and good Pay, and to give them about 10 Guineas for their Passage.
