LOCALS

Mrs. J. M. Powers and Miss Juanita Powers motored to Jackson Thursday.

Willie Gwin and John Stewart Watson were over from Indianola for the week-end.

Miss Ruth Gardner, of Summit, was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Howell for the week-end. Miss Gardner left Mississippi Sunday for Columbia University, where she will study. While away she will visit in Detroit, Chicago, Albany, Philadelphia and St. Louis.

Misses Mary Evelyn Williams and Emma Dennis Moore left Friday for Memphis, where they will visit for several days before going to Marked Tree, Ark., where Miss Moore will be the guest of Miss Williams for several weeks.

Mrs. Bettie Montgomery, of Edwards, was the prized guest in the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Barrett the past week.

Mr. and Mrs. Eli Abbott, Jr., and little Anne Meredith Abbott, of Greenwood, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Watson for the week-end.

Mr. and Mrs. Zan McMillan and son, Robert, of Lone Oak, Texas, are visiting Mrs. L. M. Gibson this week.

Miss Rachael Barrett was delighted to have with her several days last week, Mr. and Mrs. Marshal Anderson and lovely children, Anne Burwell and Marshall, Jr., of Los Angeles.

Edwin Williams, of Belzoni, was the prized guest of his mother, Mrs. Sallie Williams, the past week.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wyatt Gwin and children, Frank, Jr., and Marie, of Indianola, were the prized guests of Mr. and Mrs. Reggie Williams for the week-end.

Mr. and Mrs. Kittrell Steele and little daughter, Barbara Anne, motored to Jackson Monday to take Miss Mary Steele who has enjoyed a most pleasant week in the old home.

Miss Dea Moore and Joe Moore were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Will Moss at Emory Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Petty were the guests of Mrs. M. H. Petty Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Petty left Monday for their new home in Lake Providence, La., where Mr. Petty will operate a grocery business.

The spacious roof of the Greenwood Compress Company holds the arrow pointing to the city's star airplane landing lodge.

Bishop and Mrs. Bratton and Miss Bratton are enjoying the sylvan shades of Sewanee for holiday hours.

Dalton McBee has joined the country club golfers to enjoy the tee parties summer holidays.

Mrs. W. E. Stansbury, of Memphis, is guest of her daughter, Mrs. Robin Harris, of the Capital City. Mrs. Stansbury was hostess, a late date, of a handsome hospitality honoring Miss Burns, of St. Louis, who is a daughter of a prized friend.

A charming hospitality of the week in Greenwood circles was that perfected by Mrs. W. T. Fountain in honor of Mrs. Peters and Miss Peters, of Tampa, Fla.

Miss Cirvillah Blanchard, of the Queen Delta City, will go to Monteagle for summer dates to teach gymnastics and dancing.

Rev. John Groves visited friends in Canton Sunday.

Misses Hilda and Marie Flink left Sunday for an extended visit with relatives in New York and Baltimore.

Dalton McBee and children, of Greenwood, joined Mrs. McBee for Sunday in the lovely home of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Barr.

Mesdames Harry Watson and W. M. Vincent motored to Greenwood Monday.

Murrell McRae motored to Jackson Monday to meet Misses Mildred and Edith Lynn Rainwater, who have been visiting in Columbia. Mr. McRae was accompanied to Jackson by Misses Elizabeth McRae and Margaret Trull.

Miss Loraine Leschen left Sunday for Tulsa, Oklahoma. She will return to Lexington on July 8th to take part in the Lewis-Berman wedding. She was accompanied as far as Memphis by Mesdames ... [incomplete in input]

Mesdames Morris Lewis and A. Jacobson, Miss Fay Lewis and Celian Lewis, who will spend several days in the city.

Miss Frances Gwin, of Keirn, visited Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Johnson Monday.

Mrs. Robert Granberry and Edwin Williams motored to Belzoni to attend the ball game Thursday, going from there Indianola to be guests of Mr. and Mrs. Walton Williams for a few days.

Mr. and Mrs. Zan McMillan and son, Robert, and Mrs. Lillie M. Gibson were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Kent, in Greenwood, Sunday.

Mrs. Alice McBee and Miss Dorothy McBee are spending several days in Memphis this week.

Mrs. L. E. Barr and Mr. and Mrs. Felix Jackson spent Tuesday in Jackson.
