The Theatre of Negotiations is at present at Hanover, where the King of Great Britain and his Ministers are earnestly endeavouring to remove the Obstacles which the grand Affair of the Election of the Archduke Joseph to be King of the Romans meets with. This Crown, it seems, is to be purchased at the Expence of some Territories which his Britannick Majesty thinks the House of Austria had best sacrifice, in Order to establish itself once more upon the Imperial Throne, or the Happiness and Tranquillity of Europe. The rational Politicians are thoroughly convinced, that there must be an End of the Balance of Power in Europe, as soon as the Imperial Crown shall pass to another House. It is for this Reason that his Britannick Majesty seconds the Demand of the Palatine Court, and supports its Pretensions at Vienna; which he does with the more Earnestness, as it's ten to one, if this Elector quits the Party of the King of Prussia, but the Elector of Cologne will once again return to the true System of his Family, which owes its Grandeur to the august House of Austria. It appears that even the Court of France avoids giving Jealousy to their Imperial Majesties and the Empire, having countermanded the Orders which it had given to form a Camp of several Regiments in Alsace, instead of which there will be one of some Thousand Men in Franche Comte; and this makes the Cantons of Berne and Basil so uneasy, as to make them talk of assembling their Troops.
