Shawnee Lands

We learn from Mr. P. B. Plumb, who is just in from Emporia, that the heads of some twelve Shawnee Indian families have just arrived from Texas, and are now stopping at Paschal Fisk's, near Eudora, in Johnson county. It was their intention to go out yesterday, and make their selections of lands. The arrival of these Indians has created quite an excitement among the settlers. In all there are some sixty or seventy persons enumerated among these families, each one of whom must have 200 acres of land now taken by squatters.-Kansas City Journal.
