CAUGHT SADDLE THIEF IN THE CITY

DEPUTY SIMMONS MADE CAPTURE OF UPRIVER CRIMINAL
MAN WAS LOATH TO SUBMIT TO ARREST.

Advices came last week from Waterville to be on the lookout for a rancher near Waterville. The man's name was Geo. Foot and his description was telephoned to the sheriff's office. Sunday Officer Simmons caught sight of a man answering the description riding down the street towards the Beal Milling company mill and hurried after him. Near the mill, Mr. Simmons caught up with his quarry and ordered him to stop. Foot took a look at the officer, then dug his spurs into the horse and was for breaking away. Quickly drawing his gun, Mr. Simmons told him he would shoot if he did not give himself up. The man evidently thought that discretion was the better part of valor, and came down off his horse and submitted to arrest. He was taken to Waterville this morning by Sheriff Logan, of Waterville. It is thought that he stole a saddle.
