LETTER FROM CENTRAL AMERICA:
Walker in Possession of Truxillo, Hond.
Collision with the British Troops,
THE INHABITANTS IN GREAT EXCITEMENT.

The schooner Araminta, Capt. Mason, arrived at this port this morning, (says the New Orleans Picayune of Monday eve, the 20th inst.,) from Ruatan Island the 9th inst. She brings news of the highest importance from the main land.

Gen. William Walker, of whose expedition to Nicaragua we have before had accounts, made his appearance before the town of Truxillo, Honduras, on the 5th inst., and took possession without serious opposition. Only one gun was fired by the troops stationed there, by which two of Walker's men were wounded. Walker then entered the town and took possession. The greatest excitement prevailed.

The object of this attack upon Truxillo is unknown. We only know that the expedition sailed from the Island of Roatan on the 20th ult, as supposed for Nicaragua direct. Subsequent to its departure we had intelligence of the capture, by the British, off Honduras, of the schooner Clifton, one of his little transports, and of her being taken into the Belize.

Whether now, after learning of this seizure, Walker subsequently turned his course to that coast, to recapture the vessel, or whether he had originally intended as first stated, to land at Truxillo and make his way through Honduras to Nicaragua by land, we are left to conjecture.

We only know this in addition, that at latest accounts from the main land, the British flag was still flying on the forts at Truxillo.

The crew of the schooner Clifton, captured by the British authorities at Belize, came up passengers by the Araminta.
