There were over 30 merchants present last evening at the Vinentia club rooms called there for the purpose of forming an association or board of trade for mutual protection and for the best interests of the city. After a short talk it was agreed that the name would be the Barre Merchants Association with the following officers: President, B. W. Hooker; vice-president, A. P. Abbott; secretary, E. J. Sowden; treasurer, D. M. Miles; directors, M. J. McGowan, F. D. Ladd and W. H. Gale. Matters of great importance were discussed and several very important committees appointed to look up certain things and report at the next meeting. This will be held in two weeks when the constitution and by-laws will be taken up.
