SCHOOL BONDS CARRY AT SCHOOL ELECTION

O. H. Hudson and J. C. Leake Elected as School Directors. Light Vote

A light vote was polled at the school election, Tuesday. Less than half the voters of Monett had interest enough in the public schools to go to the polls.

For school director O. H. Hudson led all the candidates, receiving 92 more votes than any other candidate. J. C. Leake received the next highest number of votes. These two men will serve on the board of education efficiently and conscientiously.

Two-thirds of all the votes cast was necessary to carry the bonds for a new grade school and it carried with votes to spare. The vote was 259 for and 114 against. The new building was a necessity to accommodate the increasing number of school children in Monett.

The regular levies for the support of the school carried as usual. The Board will probably hold their next meeting Friday of this week to canvas the vote and attend to necessary business.
