22, Burton Crescent, Jan. 6, 1825.
Sir: In the list of those who have subscribed towards the relief of the Spanish and other Emigrants, that you inserted in your paper of yesterday, I see my name with surprise. I assure you, in all sincerity, that I have subscribed nothing to the above object; not because my sentiments would not incline me to do so, but because my circumstances do not permit me.
I hope that you will have the goodness to state this in your first number, for which I shall feel grateful to you,
