REPUBLICAN CONVENTION.
Twenty-Sixth Senatorial District-Hon. J.
W. Johnson and U. J. Albertsen
Nominated.
The Republican senatorial convention of
the 26th district composed of the counties
of Fulton and Tazewell, convened in Pekin
Tuesday and nominated for the legislature
Hon. J. W. Johnson of Fulton, and U. J.
Albertsen of Tazewell, which fact was an-
nounced in Tuesday's REGISTER.
The convention was organized by the
election of James Donn of Fulton, chair-
man and H. W. Zipf of Tazewell and
George Wood of Fulton, secretaries.
On motion of W. H. Shaw of Fulton, the
following committee on resolutions was
selected: W. H. Shaw, A. W. Brown and
W. S. McGinnis of Fulton, and C. A. Kuhl
and A. H. Heiple of Tazewell.
The committee after consultation reported
that they had no resolutions to offer, and
preferred to simply stand on the state
Republican platform, which report
was
received and adopted with cheers.
The senatorial committee named by the
convention is as follows: George Woodruff, O. J. Pettijohn and E. J. Murphy of
Fulton, and J. W. Craft and George Small
of Tazewell.
Hon. J. V. Graff was called for and
responded in a brief and patriotic address
which was greeted with enthusiastic
applause.
Following the remarks by Mr. Graff the
matter of nominating candidates for the
legislature was taken up. R. E. Griffith
of Fulton named U. J. Albertsen of Tazewell and J. W. Johnson of Fulton. These
nominations were seconded by A. H.
Heiple of Tazewell and they were made by
acclamation.
Mr. Albertsen
made a short address
thanking the convention for the honor
conferred upon him. Mr. Johnson being
absent Judge Chiperfield of Fulton made
a brief speech in his behalf, after which
the convention adjourned.
