Conchs Hold Stiff Drills In Readying For Toughest Court Fest Of The Season
Key West High School basketball squad will tackle its toughest competition of the current campaign tonight when it goes up against the highly touted Miami High five.
The Conchs, who won their last start Saturday night against another Miami combination, St. Peters, by a wide margin have been holding intensive drills this week in an effort to sharpen up their lagging scoring attack.
The Miamians, who are perennial favorites in South Florida AA competition, are sporting 5-1 record to date, losing only to Miami Edison. A victory over the favored Stingarees would be a big boost to the Conch morale.
Coach Jones is expected to stick with his starting combination of Baker, Cooper, Bazo, Henriquez and Lones or Osterhoudt.
The Conch policy of keeping a fresh defense on the floor seems to be paying off. With the speed that the local boys have been showing, a little boost in the payoff department would make them a tough club to beat in any competition.
In a preliminary game, the Key West Jayvees will meet the Miami High Junior Varsity.
