Postmaster Davis H. Bell Substitute Speaker at Services Sunday
A service flag, with 60 stars for Smyrna men in the armed forces, was dedicated Sunday at Market Street Plaza.
The program was sponsored by Town Council and David C. Harrison Post, American Legion, and the Ladies Auxiliary.
Assisting were the Boy and Girl Scouts and Atlas Post, American Legion. The flag was formally presented by Mayor R. F. Corley to Capt. J. D. Quillen of the State Guard and was accepted by Postmaster Davis H. Bell who replaced George R. Miller, Jr., school superintendent, who underwent an operation Friday in Kent General Hospital. Others taking part in ceremony were Rev. James W. Colona, pastor of Asbury Methodist Church; the Rev. Frederick Marx Barton, rector of St. Peter's Church; the Rev. J. W. Parkins, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, and Charles Burrous. Harrison Post commander.
