Extra Bank Examiners Needed.

WASHINGTON, July 3.-Mr. Lacey, comptroller of the currency, said this morning that Bank Examiner Betts, of Cincinnati, and Bank Examiner Shepard, of Pittsburgh, had been detailed to temporary duty in Philadelphia, but that such assignment had no particular significance. They had completed the examination of the banks in their districts and were merely sent to Philadelphia in the regular course of business to assist in keeping up the regular work. Their visit had nothing to do with the failed banks and they would take no part in the pending investigation.
