Directors of Maysville Water Company Make Their Annual Visit to Louisville.

[Courier-Journal, May 2nd.]

With a dignified step that indicated that they were men of wealth, three well known citizens of Maysville registered at the Galt House last night and asked that they be given their accustomed rooms. Three suites on the second floor were assigned the Kentuckians, who are always present when Derby day arrives. Arrangements are always made a year in advance for the saving of the rooms, and they have never been disappointed. The men were Messrs. Charles D. Pearce, D. P. Dye and Dr. H. K. Adamson. They are the Directors of the Maysville Water Company, which will hold its regular annual meeting at the Galt House this morning. Additional directors of the company will arrive this morning in time for the meeting.

The Maysville Water Company directors, according to the bylaws of their charter, are required to meet in this city each Derby day. Mr. Charles D. Pearce is the President of the company. He formerly resided in this city. Upon going to Maysville he was elected head of the water company. When the spring races arrived, the Board of Directors, at the invitation from Mr. Pearce, came to this city to witness the sport of kings. So pleased were they that they decided to come again. This visit was five years ago, and since that time they have not missed a running of the Derby. At a meeting of the Maysville Water Company, after the party had witnessed the first race at Churchill Downs, a resolution was introduced providing that the future meetings of the company be held in this city. It was also decided to have the meeting on the day that the Derby was run. The directors hold their meeting on the morning of the race, but adjourn for another year. They say the meeting serves as an excuse for them to get away from their wives. The following is the program of business before the directors this morning:

Call to order by the President, Mr. Charles D. Pearce; motion to adjourn by Secretary H. K. Adamson; tips on the afternoon's races by Treasurer D. P. Dye.
