Full Text

LONDON.

A celebrated Preacher in the West end of the town lately preached a sermon upon Lotteries, in which he introduced some sentences to show, that mankind in general neglected God's lottery more than man's; that he believed there were many candidates for the former, but he was very certain the blanks were more numerous than in the latter, and enjoined his hearers to make Mammon of the unrighteousness of this world, so as to secure themselves a proper place in the next.

As the discourse was calculated for a charitable purpose, it had an uncommon effect upon the pockets of the hearers.
