Henry Beathard Resigns From Education Board
Illness Forces Resignation After Twenty Years Service

Henry P. Beathard, for twenty years a member of the London Board of Education, has resigned. Ill health was given as the reason for the resignation of Mr. Beathard who had served as president of the board for five consecutive terms and has more recently as clerk for the past 11 years. He has been in ill health for the past several months having suffered a severe heart attack several weeks ago.

A resolution was passed by the remaining board members which said:

Whereas, H. P. Beathard has been an honored, useful member of this Board of Education for the past twenty years, serving as President for five consecutive terms (1936-1940), and as Clerk of the Board for eleven years (1942-1952); as well as being supervisor of school property during his term on the Board of Education; and serving in every capacity with efficiency and true devotion to the very best interests of the schools of the London Exempted Village School District; and,

Whereas, Due to ill health it is necessary that he resign his place on the Board of Education; therefore:

Be it resolved, By the Board Members that the thanks of the Board of Education, the Teachers, and Employees of the London Public Schools, and the public at large be given to Mr. Beathard for his untiring efforts during the past twenty years in behalf of the best interests of the London School System: and:

Be it further resolved;

First, that his resignation be accepted with the deepest regret.

Second, that a copy of this resolution be inserted in the minutes of the Board of Education and a copy be sent to Mr. Beathard."

Mr. Glenn Woosley seconded the resolution and the same was adopted unanimously.

The Board of Education postponed the naming of a successor to Mr. Beathard until the January 8th, meeting. The Board did not disclose its choice to succeed Beathard.
