After several weeks drought, the most severe electrical storm of the season visited Damascus and Woodfield communities, on Friday. Mrs. Claud Brandenburg, while attempting to close a metal frame casement window, received a severe electric shock and burns. A hen house, 40 feet in length, belonging to Mr. James Kemp was lifted from its foundation and landed on the other side of a nearby fence, with practically no damage to the building. More than 20 telephones in the Woodfield neighborhood were burned out.
Fire completely destroyed the house of Mr. and Mrs. Richard T. Gue, near Woodfield. Mr. and Mrs. Gue were working near the house when the blaze was first seen, and the Mt. Airy Fire Department was called, but although the progress of the fire was slow, lack of water prevented the fire fighters from saving the building. All of the furniture, however, was saved. The Gues plan to rebuild in the near future.
