The owners of the famous "Home Lode." of Cherry Creek, held an adjourned Incorporation Meeting last evening at Speith and Krugs Hall, the use of which was kindly tendered to them by Messrs. Brown & Carpenter.
The owners of the Home Lode are:
Capt. S. H. Norton, U. S.A.
Lieut. J. G. McAdams, U S. A.;
Maj. F. D. Pease, Agt. Crow Indians;
Chas Rich
M. T. Williams;
C. A. Biegler, U. S. C. M. D.
H. Enselman;
L. S. Willson
Jo. Thomas,
G. W. Rea,
T. E. Rea,
J. V. Bogert.
All the owners were present, and after presentation by the Secretary, (Mr. Bogert). of his proposed Form of incorporation for a Provisional Company, the same was unanimously adopted. and the following gentlemen elected to serve under the same as officers of the company, viz:
L. S. Willson, Chairman-Provisional President;
J. V. Bogert, Secretary ;
Jno. Thomas, Resident Superintendent.
The result is the first practical organization having in view the development of the Cherry Creek discoveries.
The plan adopted by the owners of this promising lode (most of whom cannot be called "quartz men" and were induced to invest only after the strictest investigation; and. consequently.whose present confident action argues well for the value of these mines.) seems an eminently practical one, and is worthy of adoption by the other interests of Cherry Creek. It is this: a "Provisional Company" is formed--a Contract to sink upon the Lode is made with responsible parties--and the costs of the same are immediately assessed upon, and collected from, the members, and deposited in bank, subject to the terms of the contract.
This may be called "business" in reality. It secures the solution of the mooted question as to actual value of the mines-discoverers are encouraged, and capitalists aided to decide for or against the investment.
We feel almost confident regarding the result-and such moves are not only the absolute requisites of development of our undoubted mineral resources. but will materially urge population and railroads to visit. us.
At last night's meeting a sinking contract, made some days ago, was adopted, and as the time for completion of the shaft is limited to 80 days, while the work is actually already in progress, we may look for a practical result at least by spring.
Those having this enterprise in hand are men of energy, and have decided to sink. the entire depth contracted. no matter what the developments as the work progresses.
Assays of the "Home Lode" ore made in San Francisco, Salt Lake, Chicago, and the Philadelphia U. S. Mint are exceedingly encouraging, and would surprise even our most enthusiastic prospectors and "quartz men." We call upon the secretary to advise us of progress of the work, which our public watches with much interest.
