By the Tiber, Capt. Hall, in six weeks from London, arrived in James river, we have the following ADVICES.

FOREIGN INTELLIGENCE.

BASTIA (Capital of the island of Corsica) Sept. 29.

The fort of Aleria, which a troop of banditti had taken possession of, has been invested since the 9th of this month. Some pieces of cannon were transported thither to batter it; and, by the precaution taken, the banditti must have perished, or surrendered themselves; but at the instant we were preparing to attack them, they made an opening of two feet in the middle of the fort, and found means to escape through our detachments without being annoyed. On the 19th inst. the bakehouse and magazines of ammunition took fire, and considerable damage was done.
