The pamphlet contains an analysis of the Springs, an account of "their origin, attributes, and the remarkable cures they have accomplished, with the testimony of distinguished physicians and eye witnesses." Among those who have been restored to health by the wonderful efficacy of these waters, is the Rev. E. R. Porter, formerly a resident of Baton Rouge.
Analysis of the Waters. Gaseous contents in one gallon: Carbonic Acid 4,632 grs. Sulphuretted Hydrogen, 0,381 grains. Solid contents in one gallon: Chloride of Sodium, 47,770 grains, do. of Calcium, 3,882 grains, do. of Magnesium, 4,989 grains, Protoxide of Iron, 4,712,—Iodine, a strong trace—Organic Matter, a trace—Chloride of Potassium, a trace—Alumina, a trace.
The Iron is doubtless in combination with both the Sulphuretted and Carbonic Acid Gases, the excess of Carbonic Acid holding both these combinations in solution.
