Outdoor Sports Enjoyed at Legion Open House

Junior hostess members of the American Legion Service Club, and their soldier guests enjoyed another of the weekly Open Houses held at the American Legion Home Sunday evening. Games and dancing were enjoyed, and part of the evening was spent in playing horse shoes and shuffleboard on the outdoor courts. Refreshments in the form of a buffet supper were served.

Mr. and Mrs. George Bachman, Mr. and Mrs. Duane Chamberlain, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Feldkamp, James Waite, and James Maloney were chaperones, while junior hostess committee chairmen were Miss Marcia Geddis and Miss Rita Block.

Friday evening members of the junior hostess organization heard a talk by Lt. Sarah Hudgens, of the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps.

Lt. Hudgens, a WAAC from Flat Rock, S. C., is at the CDVO offices in the City Hall each Wednesday afternoon from 12 to 5 p. m. for recruiting service. She discussed WAAC life and told of qualifications for the work, and following her talk answered questions of the group.

Following this Mr. Maloney, who is director of USO activities in Ypsilanti, was introduced, and answered questions of the hostesses. Senior hostesses present were Mrs. Harold Augustus and Mrs. Robert Wiard. Mrs. A. J. Whitmire was also a guest.

Following the meeting refreshments of punch, and cookies were served by Miss Alice Heck, and Miss Margaret Menzi, co-chairmen.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schrepper and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wiard will be committee members in charge of the Wednesday evening dance for servicemen to be in the gymnasium of the Ypsilanti High School from 8 to 11:30 p. m.
