Event Details
The Pestilence, after having made such great Havock in this Metropolis, begins to abate considerably, though some are still daily carried off by it; so that the Inhabitants yet keep within Doors, avoiding all Communication with their Neighbours. It is hard to tell how many Persons have died of the Plague; but one may give a good Guess by the Quantity of Corn consumed in this City, which is at present 15,000 Measures called Kioz, whereas before the Pestilence broke out 22,000 were daily consumed; so that we may conclude the Number of People is diminish'd by one Third. It is reckon'd, that in some Weeks upwards of 20,000 were swept away by the Contagion.
