Extract of a letter from England, dated Aug. 8, by the Adamant, Capt. Morwick.
"The affairs of Holland will, I understand, be terminated without a war; and the States at last are likely to submit to the Stadtholder. France, now it comes to the point, I suppose flies off. Indeed they seem to have enough to do at home, as the King is quarreling with his Parliament, who are all banished from Paris, for refusing to register his Edict for a Stamp Duty, or rather spiritedly remonstrating against it:--and I should not be much surprised, now the spirit of Liberty is gone forth, if the Stamp Act makes as much noise in France as it has done elsewhere."
