BRUNSWICK TO
GO IN MOURNING
PROCLAMATION ISSUED BY ACTING
MAYOR DU BIGNON.-UNION MEM-
ORIAL SERVICES
AT THE BAPTIST
CHURCH TOMORROW.

The Christian men and women of
Brunswick and all those who love and
respect the memory of the late Presi-
dent McKinley will assemble at the
Baptist church tomorrow at 11 o'clock
a. m. to take part in a union memorial
service.

This service will be in commemora-
tion of our dead chieftain, and will fit-
tingly express the love felt for him by
the people of this community. An ex-
cellent program of music has been ar-
ranged and speeches will be made by
Col. C. P. Goodyear, who will tell of
the public life of the president, and
Rev. Harry Cecil who will speak on his
life as a Christian.

Proclamation Issued.

Yesterday Hon. J. E. duBignon, act-
ing mayor, issued a proclamation clos-
ing all city offices at 11 a.m., and earn-
estly requesting all citizens to close
their places of business from 2 to 4 p.m.
The proclamation reads:

City of Brunswick,
City Hall, September 17, 1901.

PROCLAMATION

Whereas, the President of the
United States appointed by proclama-
tion, Thursday, September 19th (the
day on which the body of the late
President William McKinley will be
laid in its last resting place) as a day of
mourning and prayer; and

Whereas, the Governor of Georgia
has ordered that all public buildings
be closed on that day; therefore I, John
E. duBignon, chairman of council and
acting mayor of the City of Brunswick;
do hereby direct that the city offices be
closed at 11 o'clock, Thursday, Sept.
19th, and I earnestly request all citi-
zens to close their places of business
during the hours of the funeral cere-
monies from 2 to 4 p. m., as the last
tribute of respect.

MEMORIAL SERVICES.
To Be Held at the First A. B. Church
Thursday.

There will be Memorial Services held
at the 1st A. B. Church in this city,
at 11 o'clock Thursday, Sept. 19, 1901.
in honor to the late President McKinley.

We cordially invite all citizens,
white and colored, to participate.
