The People in England were still in great Fears, by the Papers of the 26th of August, in regard to Newfoundland; they having received Advices, which were much relied on that the French Fleet from Cape Francois, with a Number of Spanish Troops, had joined the French, and taken Possession of other Places besides St. John's. Many People were very apprehensive of Halifax. Such Numbers of people doubted the sailing of a Reinforcement that Notice was repeatedly given to assure the Public of the sailing of 4 Ships for Newfoundland, tho' no Troops were mentioned.
