Full Text

The following is the plan of British operations, which is generally spoken of in Halifax, to take place early in the spring.—"A strong naval and military force is to be concentrated this winter at Bermudas—A number of black regiments of Regulars from Jamaica and other West India islands with two or three Regiments of Regulars from Halifax and several from England, are to compose the force (about 12,000 men) which is to invade the South and erect (like Hull) the standard of rebellion—These will be protected in their landing by a strong naval and marine force. That such a scheme is in contemplation we do not doubt. Let those most interested look to it. This is to be done in retaliation for the invasion of Canada and the invitation given to the Canadians to revolt and join the Republican Standard."
