Full Text

The drought in Indiana appears to have been as severe as in any other section of the Union. The Brookville American of 5th instant says—

Since the 27th day of June last, we have only had two slight showers, not more than sufficient at any place than to fairly lay the dust. All the weather witches have failed in their calculations. and the prospect is that there will be very little wheat sown this fall Some few have sown their wheat, but it will not come up—having sprouted, and then withered. And many cannot sow at all —not being able to break their fallow ground. These things will doubtless be a drawback on the next season's crop.
