MEXICO CITY (AP) Education should develop individuality rather than standardize thought and habits, Moises Saenz, under-secretary of public instruction, told state directors of education who met here.
"Education is parallel to life itself," he said. "It should teach us to master our character, to give greater expression to our personality. There is a marked difference of character among the people of Mexico and standardization represents for us a danger, whereas by encouraging diversity in community life we can be ourselves."
He emphasized that an era of construction has come upon Mexico and that the time has arrived "to bring order out of confusion."
