"Frontiers of Civil Liberties in the Next 25 Years" is the subject of an Akron program set for next Wednesday evening.
Patrick Murphy Malin, executive director of American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), will be the speaker. He will discuss present and future challenges to American rights and freedoms and will touch on freedom of speech, press and religion, separation of church and state, censorship, voting rights, and current civil rights legislation.
Work of ACLU in these fields has frequently been controversial. The organization is said to be the only national non-partisan organization devoted solely to upholding, and clarifying through court cases, the principles of the Bill of Rights and of the U. S. Constitution.
Mr. Malin's talk is free, and the public is invited.
The program will be held at the Hilltop Lounge, Student Union, University of Akron. It will begin at 8 o'clock.
The talk is sponsored by the Akron Area Civil Liberties Union. Richard Arnesen, local chairman, will introduce the speaker. Mrs. Sidney Reaven is in charge of arrangements.
